AMBIT Training routes

11th September 2015
The Standard whole team training route is laid out as no. 01 in the table below.
Ongoing Evaluation:
Variety/Choice:
  • In all likelihood the range of different needs from different teams will continue to justify this range of different models for dissemination.
01. AMBIT Basic Five Day TrainingAdvantages / Disadvantages / Discussion
(a) Multi-team trainings (for up to 5 or 6 teams together)Advantages in fostering across-team and geographically dispersed connections/comparisons and learning, and promotes value of the Community of Practice
(b) Bespoke trainings (for one or more teams from a single larger organisation)Advantages in being focused on a specific organisational setting, but reduces benefits from multi-agency connections
02. Training the Trainer (TTT) - training model
(a) Training AMBIT local (UK) trainers via training days dispersed over a period of months, who are simultaneously supported via supervision to train their own local teams over a period of a year.Advantages of embedding local expertise in teams, disadvantages in loss of a whole team "experience" to support team culture change, and the value of 'disinterested' outside trainers to encourage change
(b) Training international AMBIT local trainers in a 5 day block, who are then supported via web-based tele-supervision to train their own local teams over a period of a year.Ditto above, intense week allows immersion in content and development of international peer group support, but a lot to take in quickly (feedback positive, though).
03. AutoDidact training
We have heard of some teams using the manual content to deliver their own self-directed training completely independently from the AFC and the AMBIT project. This is quite inspiring to us, fulfilling the ambition of AMBIT to be an OpenSource approach to treatment innovation and dissemination, however, to date we've not had any feedback from these teams: we would be very keen to hear about their experiences!
04. Advanced and Practice Days:
(a) AMBIT Leads Practice DayA day for existing AMBIT Lead workers - rehearsing, refreshing and developing practice in supporting existing AMBIT-influenced teams
(b) Follow-up training for established teamsA 2 day training for a team that has previously been trained, but which has had new staff who have arrived AFTER the original training
(c) Special Skills Training DaysDays on specific areas of practice, such as Formulation and Treatment Aims, the use of the AIM assessment, SupervisoryStructures, etc (UNDER DEVELOPMENT).
