Learning Objectives for the day
The four main learning objectives for Day 1 are:
- Initial introductions at a Training event - 20 mins
- Developing Team Learning Objectives - I hr
- Learning about mentalizing - 90 mins
- Learning about AMBIT - Brief overview and selected highlights in each of the four main quadrants of the AMBIT Wheel - afternoon.

- AMBIT is about adaptation as well as structure, so variations are possible
Day 1 - Didactic teaching and mini-exercises
To introduce individuals:

All teams spend 3 minutes developing a 1 minute introduction to their team:
- Who we are (subgroup 1 if a larger team)
- What we do (subgroup 2 if a larger team)
- How we do it (subgroup 3 if a larger team)
- The major Challenges for us in what we do (subgroup if a larger team)
(b)
All delegates write some SHORT SENTENCES/PHRASES on a piece of paper:
- One hope for the training ahead
- One worry about the training ahead
- What are the some of the main challenges of your job? (These are your INDIVIDUAL experiences - as opposed to those shared by your TEAM earlier) ...With clients, with your team, and with your networks.
These will be looked at while delegates then

Introducing ourselves and the model- Trainers have a conversation in front of the group:
- Attempting to mentalize the large group and themselves.
- Read out from hope and fears papers
- Imagine the large group is the client
- “There might be enthusiasts, there might be sceptics”
- Training may have benefits... AND it can have SIDE EFFECTS...
- Dialogue about "them", and about US...
- Stress AMBIT's requirement to Respect local practice and expertise, and our non-knowledge about how things are here.
- We are “sailing blind” - very like working with the families you work with...
- The team's REFERRAL forms....
- Discuss and reflect upon these and the teams' proposed training outcomes...
- Reveal that we are trying to MODEL an AMBIT stance in our work with them.
- Broadcast our intentions
- Slide or two about the AMBIT project, the community of practice, who’s using it to date.
2. Open discussion (Q and A)

- Applying Mz in 3 directions - clients/colleagues/networks (ask what the problems are in people's work - to scribe and to sort into 3 domains clients/team/network)
- Hard to reach/ relationship to help
- AMBIT stance first (see Core Features of AMBIT) and then move into the practices (“more detail in the afternoon”)
5. End of morning - How are we doing? (30 mins)
- 10 mins conversation with neighbour
- 'Call out' discussions with workers trying to represent their neighbour’s views
- We are modelling curiosity
- We are being explicit about whether we are attuned to their hopes and fears (from earlier)
