a. Introductions and Orientation

Initial introductions at a Training event contains some video on how to do this in a mentalizing way...

Purpose: Building safety and an atmosphere where we can foster shared mental models (Senge: Discipline 3 - Mental Models about challenges in achieving this.
Exercise: - brief presentation on safety, Community of Practice and the need to know each other (to be well-connected)
Practice: 2 Elevator Pitches
  • (a) To a Commissioner: "What we do and how"
  • (b) To each other in this Learning Set, acknowledging the specific difficulties in your specific situations in delivering this:

b. Clarifying HOW DO WE LEARN?

Purpose: Clarifying the training model, clarifying our roles - basic stance of trainers is:
  • we train you...
  • we train you on how we trained you...
  • you train each other...
Exercises:
  • Think of a single example in the past few months of WHERE, WHAT and HOW your team LEARNED something
  • Design a way to explore "How do you learn in this team?" with your own team...

c. WHY DO YOU NEED TRAINING?

Purpose: Clarifying each team's Post-training outcome goals (keep these quite client-focused as well as team/practitioner focused).
