Developing a team culture of planning

31st May 2016

What is this?

A culture of planning is one in which all members of the team share an understanding (an examle of Broadcasting Intentions, if you like) that time is an extremely valuable resource and should be spent as wisely as possible, and that "Having a plan is usually better than having no plan!"

Thus team members support each other with the constant process of identifying Aims and Goals, or more specifically Formulation and Treatment Aims, and ensuring that these shape the plans they make - balanced by the need to be sensitively attuned to the experiences of the clients.

This is particularly something that the AMBIT Lead and the Implementation Team will want to consider - "how do we support the development of this?

Why this emphasis on PLANNING?

Planning involves making your intentions clear, and this Broadcasting Intentions can relate to the SHORT term, the MEDIUM term, or the LONG term:

SHORT term

Across minutes, as in Marking the Task during Thinking Together, or planning your next session…

MEDIUM term

Across days, as in planning goals and activities for the next week - for instance this is something that the Team Meetings can ensure they focus on ("so what is your plan for next week?")

LONG term

Across weeks or months, developing, using, and adapting Care Plans based on the Formulation and Treatment Aims.
