One of the core assumptions of mentalization theory is that people make sense of the behaviour of others by considering their actions in terms of intentions.

The AMBIT approach suggests that it is important for the AMBIT worker to try to be explicit about his/her OWN intentions in order to enable the young person to have more opportunity to mentalize their behaviour. This is particularly apparent in Active Planning, one of the Core Features of AMBIT
