PREP: Setting objectives exercise

11th December 2015

Learning Objectives:

  • For the senior heads and commissioners to begin to think about evaluation of change – how are they already capturing outcomes and measuring change – what is transferable and what would success of other objectives look like as a measurable outcome.
  • For the senior managers/commissioners to practice sharing these looked for changes and outcome measures with the whole teams to further pinpoint useful outcomes.

Instructions

• Groups divide into small groups or as whole group, with questions:
    • What outcomes do we already measure have in place that relate to the changes/objectives we’ve identified we want to see?
    • What improvements do we want to achieve on these outcomes?
    • How other measures could we use to track those improvements and changes we want to see?
• Groups come back together or feedback on discussions to the Trainers, who manualize these outcome measures with key questions in mind:
    • Are these SMART goals?
    • Are these related to the changes the services/teams have spoken about in feedback survey and earlier fishbowl discussion?
    • Are these achievable given the barriers talked about?
• Trainers and group hone down outcomes to specific number (3-5?) of measures that will track the wanted objectives, to share with the rest of the services later in the day to hear their thoughts.
